Job Title Fisheries Biologist 2 – PN 20058734 & 20060999 (District/Research) (2600048E) Organization Natural Resources Location DNR Licking – 10517 Canal Road Southeast, Hebron, OH 43025 (primary), Athens County – 360 East State Street, Athens, OH 45701 (second) Schedule Full-time, 8am–5pm, subject to change. Union: OCSEA Compensation Starting at $28.76/hr with increases over first 5.5 years to $38.01/hr; possible COLA and longevity pay. Job Description Evaluate existing fish management programs and develop new research & management projects, serving as principal investigator on studies involving fish age & growth, population dynamics, recruitment, mortality, exploitation, stocking strategies, and regulatory impacts. Conduct and oversee field surveys of fisheries and aquatic communities (fish, anglers, plankton, aquatic plants, limnological conditions) using appropriate sampling gear. Design, coordinate, and oversee fisheries and angler access projects, determining project requirements, sampling designs, staffing needs, procedures, schedules, budgets, and equipment purchases. Use appropriate statistical methods to collate, analyze, model, and interpret biological and environmental data, manage databases and analytical programs, draft technical reports and peer‑reviewed publications, and present technical information at scientific meetings. Communicate technical and scientific information to the public and stakeholders, prepare news releases and articles, provide presentations and media responses, represent the division on professional committees. Manage cost of living adjustments, longevity pay supplements, and other compensation details as outlined in the OCSEA pay schedule. Qualifications Completion of undergraduate core program in fisheries science AND 24 months training or experience in management & coordination of fisheries projects. OR completion of graduate core program in biological sciences, including 6 courses in fisheries science & 2 courses in statistics; 6 months training or experience in management & coordination of fisheries projects. OR completion of graduate core program in fisheries science AND 6 months training or experience in management & coordination of fisheries projects. 24 months training or experience as Fisheries Biologist 1 (22271) or equivalent minimum class qualifications.
