In addition to prosecuting criminal cases through the traditional court system, our Juvenile Division has implemented groundbreaking Restorative Justice Initiatives such as the CHOOSE 180 Program, Family Intervention and Restorative Services (FIRS), Restorative Community Pathways (RCP) and Truancy Drop-Out Prevention, where we seek to improve community safety and better address the interests of victims of crime. To learn more about the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PAO), please visit our website. Location: The Juvenile Division is located in the Clark Children & Family Justice Center in Seattle. These positions are primarily in-person with some ability to telecommute each week as business needs allow, subject to a telecommuting agreement. If a successful candidate is new to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, they may be required to work in office four days every week for six months. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. This position is represented by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Association. The Juvenile Division is seeking attorneys with experience in criminal law, preferably with prior juvenile/felony level filing cases, negotiating cases, and trial experience. The attorney will be responsible for vertically handling a large caseload of juvenile criminal matters. This attorney will be expected to effectively file, negotiate and try cases. The candidate should demonstrate an interest in applying Restorative Justice practices. Juvenile Division attorneys are also encouraged and expected to engage in community outreach as needed. Office hours are generally 8:00am - 5:00pm, with court hours being 9:00am - 4:30pm. This position will also involve regular calendar coverage, with occasional coverage on weekends via telecommute. These positions are represented by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Association. Skill in planning, preparing, presenting and conducting case strategies to prosecute criminal cases. Skill in presenting criminal cases in court. Skill in interpreting and explaining policy and law to officials, other professionals and victims/witnesses. Skill in managing complex caseloads and maintaining appropriate records, logs and case files. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse professionals and general public. Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills. Strong work ethic and commitment to working effectively in a team environment. Strong ability to accept feedback and coaching, and to implement it into practice. Must be Washington State Bar qualified Strong commitment to Race, Equity, Social and Justice issues, including working on personal cultural competency. Salary: $92,770.00 - $153,722.00 – Commensurate with 2 to approximately 10 years of experience. This position is exempt and not eligible for overtime.
