Position- Biomedical Equipment Tech
Location - Summit, Morristown, Whippany hospital sites
Shift - M-F 8-4PM
Duration - 6-month contract to hire (once hired, potential to be on-call)
Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking an entry-level and an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician I, II, and III (BMET I) for a healthcare client. This individual will support the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting of medical equipment used throughout hospital and clinical environments. This role is focus on break/fix. The BMET I will work alongside experienced Clinical Engineering team members, respond to equipment service requests, document work in the CMMS, assist with equipment installations and inventory, and ensure medical devices remain safe and functional for patient care.
Must-Haves:
- Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology (BMET), Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (EET), science/technology, or military-trained Biomedical Equipment Technician
- Basic knowledge of electronics and biomedical equipment maintenance/repair
- Understanding of medical equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
- Familiarity with basic electronic/biomedical test equipment
- Ability to document maintenance and repairs in a CMMS
- Ability to prepare for 24-hour on-call repair responsibilities within 6 months of hire
Plusses:
- 0–5 years of biomedical, clinical, or related technical experience
- Internship or hands-on experience in a hospital/healthcare environment
- Familiarity with multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, defibrillator testers, infusion pump testers, and pressure gauges
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, NFPA 99, NEC, OSHA, FDA, CAP, and AABB standards
- Pursuing AAMI Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification
