Food Service Worker

Job Goal:

To assist in producing the highest possible quality of food for consumption by students and adults.

Essential Functions:

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists cook or baker or both with preparation of food.
  • May be called upon to take over the cooking or baking duties in the absence of either.
  • Rotates to all areas of cafeteria work; serving line, cashier, washing tables, pots and pans, taking out the trash and cleaning equipment, production areas and snack bar.
  • Other general duties assigned by the food service manager necessary in preparation or clean up.
  • Understands and practices USDA accountability and general safety standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

Reports To:

Cafeteria Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Ability to obtain food handler's card.
  3. Ability to lift medium to heavy weights, bend, stoop, reach and climb.
  4. Shall have ability to work effectively and professionally with school personnel and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 6 months to 1-year previous experience in a commercial or institutional food service operation.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

The position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching and pushing or lifting up to 50 lbs., and is may be performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. The position requires interaction with the public and other district employees

Work year, salary and benefits as established by the Board.
