SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome for several concurrent projects, from pre-construction to closeouts. The PM leads and manages a team of assistant project managers, project engineers and office engineers to deliver exceptional results. The Project Manager supports client relationships and participates in business development activities as appropriate. Reports to the Division Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards consistent with company policies and contractual requirements. Put these in clear concise work statement for the field. Complete Job Information Sheet (JIS) and Project Budget. Accountable for overall profit and performance of the project. Supervise and provide direction to project management staff, including Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators. Train and effectively supervise direct reports in the company philosophy and systems. Review drawings for questions or changes to be submitted via RFI. Review RFI’s received from vendors and subcontractors. Negotiate and supervise the preparation of all change orders on the project. Develop cost and billing projections and project Schedule of Values (SOV). Maintain liaison with prime client and A/E to facilitate construction activities. Monitor construction activities in conjunction with the onsite Foreman and Division Superintendent to ensure project is being built on schedule, and within budgets. Manage subcontractor activities including associated costs, schedule, and related change orders. Identify project issues and implement corrective actions consistent with company policies and in coordination with the Division Manager. Represent company/project in meetings with client, subcontractors, etc. Engage in business development. Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with the client. This position may require occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and company locations within the assigned region. Perform other duties as assigned by Division Manager. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED Minimum Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of progressive project management experience in electrical construction or a related construction discipline. Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and experience considered. Certifications: Valid California Driver’s License required. OSHA 10 certification preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe. Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000 (exempt) annually. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, skills, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Abilities Required Industry Knowledge of construction technology, cost management, scheduling, equipment, and methods required. Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications. In-depth knowledge of the NFPA/NEC codes. Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures. Basic understanding of California Construction Law and claims avoidance principles Extensive experience managing electrical construction projects. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local construction regulations, including OSHA requirements and California labor compliance requirements. Business Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Bluebeam skills (CAD and BIM) as well as Accubid and Procore a plus. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary. Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion. Understanding of the financials of a project and how to forecast. Interpersonal Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate effectively with team members, customers, consultants, vendors, and partners. Business development / heavy client interaction. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, employees, and project stakeholders by telephone, email, and other communication methods. Regular telephone communication with customers and business contacts is an essential part of the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. May be sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. At a job site, may be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions. The noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on a jobsite.
