The Water/Wastewater Practice is seeking a Project Manager in Spokane, WA, Boise, ID, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Pocatello, ID, or Salt Lake City, UT.The ideal candidate will lead complex municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water and wastewater projects. This role is suited for an experienced engineer who can independently manage major projects and/or design tasks, play a key role in mentoring staff, and focus on delivering high-quality projects while managing and building client relationships, financial performance, and team coordination.What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities:Project Management, Technical Leadership, & Delivery Lead planning and design for municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water and wastewater systems, including: Conveyance and pumping systems Storage and distribution systems Collection systems and treatment facilities Manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants Oversee project financials including forecasting, invoicing, and profitability Ensure successful project closeout and client satisfaction Manage complex design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams Prepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standards Serve as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projectsClient Management & Business Development Serve as primary point of contact for key municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water/wastewater clients Build and maintain strong client relationships Identify new opportunities, support proposal development, and collaborate on market growth strategies Support or lead proposal development and project pursuits Represent DEA at industry events, professional organizations, and community initiatives to strengthen relationships and market presenceTeam Leadership Lead and mentor project teams Provide direction to task leaders and technical staff Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering collaboration and accountabilityWhat You BringRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); PE license required or ability to obtain 8+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systems Strong experience in municipal (city and/or special purpose district) water/wastewater system design Experience managing municipal water/wastewater projects through multiple phases of delivery Proven ability to lead design tasks and coordinate project teams Familiarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordination Experience supporting full project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modeling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets) Strong communication and technical writing skills Experience mentoring or supervising junior staffWhat We OfferWe foster an environment where talented professionals have the freedom and support to do their most meaningful work.
