ICU Telemetry Tech - PRN

Job Description
The Staff Pad has partnered with a repute hospital in Helena, MT and we are looking for a Telemetry Technician to play a vital role in supporting patient care by continuously monitoring cardiac activity and ensuring the accuracy and functionality of telemetry systems.

This position is responsible for observing, interpreting, and documenting cardiac rhythms while promptly communicating significant changes to the healthcare team to support timely clinical intervention, oversee the operation of central monitoring stations and telemetry software systems, maintain monitoring equipment, and ensure uninterrupted cardiac surveillance for patients throughout the unit.

The role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, technical proficiency, and effective communication skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

What You'll Do


Key Responsibilities

Cardiac Monitoring & Rhythm Interpretation

• Continuouslymonitor patient cardiac rhythms using telemetry systems and centralmonitoring stations
• Independentlyprepare, maintain interpret and document cardiac rhythms and waveform datain patient medical records
• DocumentEKG waveform data in patient records, including recording heart ratemeasurements, PR intervals, and QRS complexes from rhythm strips
• Identify,recognizing and ensuring recorded rhythm strips are placed on thepatient's chart. Rhythms Include:
• NormalSinus Rhythm (NSR)
• SinusBradycardia (SB)
• SinusTachycardia (ST)
• Asystole
• SupraventricularTachycardia (SVT)
• AtrialFibrillation (A-Fib)
• AtrialFlutter (A-Flutter)
• VentricularTachycardia (VT)
• Measure anddocument heart rate, PR interval, and QRS complexes on rhythm strips.
• Ensurerhythm strips are accurately recorded, mounted, and placed in patientcharts.

Alarm Response & Communication

• Respondpromptly and appropriately to all monitor alarms.
• Immediatelyreport and document changes in patient heart rate or rhythm to nursesand/or physicians for urgent/ non-urgent intervention
• Maintainclear, professional, and timely communication with charge nurses,physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Documentall rhythm and rate changes according to departmental standards.

Equipment Management & Troubleshooting

• Set up,operate, and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment for the unit.
• Ensuremonitor alarms are properly activated while patients are on telemetrymonitoring.
• Coordinateavailability of transmitters, lead cables, and monitoring supplies.
• Clean andmaintain monitoring equipment in accordance with infection control andbioengineering guidelines.
• Troubleshoottelemetry and monitoring issues by identifying causes and implementingcorrective actions or escalating concerns as appropriate.

Compliance & Administrative Support

• Provideindirect patient care under the direction of the Director or designee andCharge Nurse.
• Follow establishedpolicies and procedures for handling and transporting patient healthinformation.
• Maintainstrict compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital confidentialitypolicies.
• Adhere toorganizational standards for behavior, professionalism, safety, andpatient privacy

Qualifications & Skills

• Strongknowledge of cardiac rhythms and telemetry monitoring.
• Ability torecognize and respond to emergent cardiac events.
• Excellentobservational, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Effectiveverbal and written communication skills.
• Strongtroubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability towork independently in a fast-paced clinical environment whilecollaborating with the healthcare team.

Additional Duties:

• Assistsnursing staff with restocking patient rooms and nurse supply areas.
• Retrievesblood products and medications from the pneumatic tube system.
• Ordersoffice supplies, completes work orders and organizes departmentalinventory
• Providesadditional support to the Director, Administrator of the Day (AOD), andICU nursing staff by performing other assigned duties in accordance withthe Orientation Competency Inventory (OCI)

What We Are Looking For:

Knowledge & Experience

• 2 years ofhospital experience preferred
• Knowledgeof medical terminology strongly recommended
• Previousclerical or receptionist experience preferred
• Priortelemetry training preferred

Education

• High schooldiploma or equivalent required
• Completionof all mandatory education as required and assigned

Licenses and Certifications

• BLScertification required within six months of hire
• Telemetrytraining/certification required within the first year of hire
