As we continue to grow, we are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Manufacturing Team Leader (MTL) in our Lawrence, KS location.

The Manufacturing Team Leader will take guidance and direction from the Operations Manager and will provide support for all daily manufacturing functions within their area of assignment. This person will in turn provide guidance and influence performance for departmental supervisors and hourly team members on multiple shifts. This person would also assist manufacturing support resources with the planning, directing and efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials, reinforce expectations for manufacturing performance, volume and quality goals utilizing appropriate staffing levels.

SHIFT: THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:

  • Support, comply with, and ensure Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Support, comply with, and ensure Quality and Environmental standards and all other Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Drive improved performance and efficiency for all manufacturing-based initiatives to include safety, quality, delivery cost, morale, cost reduction, scrap reduction, communication, housekeeping, team member evaluation, training, staffing levels, associate pay, and compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Support and promote our Lean Vision and ensure full participation and adherence to our Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Embraces personal challenge and demonstrates leadership regarding organizational change.
  • Oversees Operational Excellence (Opex) and provides leadership to Opex teams.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ability to problem-solve and do root cause analysis.
  • Takes an active role in Team Member development.
  • Able to fill in and assist in Operation's Managers role when required.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Is self-aware, self-accountable, resilient, assertive and open to change.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, occasionally to include overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs requires team lifting of at least 2 people.
  • Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs. require teamwork of at least 2 people.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily).
  • Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently. Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers. Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment. Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools. Mathematical and measuring skills required for quality checks and basic equipment adjustments – equivalent to that of a carpenter or mechanic.
  • Frequent work in tight and confined spaces. Frequent use of ladders and work in high spaces. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanner may be required for specific work tasks. Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS): BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience. Three (3) to five (5) years' experience gained through supervision in multiple settings (departments, plants, etc.) and/or through advanced college training in business management. Must be capable of working with cross-functional resources. Ability to perform the planning, directing, reporting, and administrative responsibilities of this position. Mechanical aptitude is necessary, although an understanding of technical details is not essential. Above average computer aptitude. Mathematical skills to calculate financial accounting and inventory control are required.
