Driver License Examiner – District 7 Join the NC Department of Transportation as a Driver License Examiner. You will administer eligibility tests, evaluate applicants for Class 3 and Commercial Driver Licenses, Learner permits, and ID cards, and serve as the DMV’s public face by providing clear, accurate information and maintaining high customer‑service standards. Responsibilities Administer written and road‑test components for all driver‑license categories. Verify applicant knowledge of North Carolina motor‑vehicle laws, road‑sign identification, vision, and driving skills. Enter accurate applicant and court‑ordered data into internal systems. Provide public advisory services regarding health concerns, adjacent program options, and policy updates. Maintain confidentiality and compliance with DMV policies and procedures. Travel as required during the day and overnight on short notice. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with database programs and Microsoft Office. Valid North Carolina Class C driver’s license with no suspensions or revocations in the last 10 years and no more than 5 active points. Completion of a certification training program (overnight stay Monday‑Friday for 4–7 weeks). Background check (name‑based and fingerprint‑based) and government‑approved REAL ID compliance.
