House Paws Animal Hospital is looking for a dependable, compassionate, and motivated full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

Veterinary experience is preferred, but it is not required. We are happy to train the right person who has a strong work ethic, enjoys learning, communicates well, and genuinely wants to become an important part of a veterinary team.

The Position

This is a 40-hour-per-week.

Our veterinary assistants work closely with the veterinarian, licensed veterinary technician, clients, and other members of our team. Responsibilities may include:

Assisting with patient appointments and examinations
Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats
Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
Assisting with laboratory testing and sample collection
Cleaning, stocking, and maintaining treatment and patient areas
Helping with hospitalized and recovering patients
Communicating professionally and compassionately with clients
Maintaining accurate patient information
Supporting the veterinary team throughout the day

Professional when communicating with clients and coworkers

We have established medical and patient-care protocols and provide training in how things are done in our practice. Experienced applicants should be comfortable learning and following our hospital’s procedures and standards of care.

Experience

Previous veterinary assistant or animal-hospital experience is a plus, but we will consider candidates without veterinary experience who demonstrate exceptional reliability, maturity, communication skills, and a strong desire to learn.

Experience in another medical setting, customer service, hospitality, or another fast-paced professional environment can also be valuable.
