We are looking for a skilled Finish Carpenter to join our marine outfitting team. In this role, you will fit out brand-new push boats with high-quality interior woodwork, including stain-grade trim, baseboards, custom beds, lockers, cabinetry, and doors.
Because marine finish carpentry demands exceptional accuracy and clean execution, you must be proficient with table saws, miter/chop saws, routing tools, and fine woodworking techniques.
Essential Responsibilities
- Stain-Grade Carpentry: Cut, prep, install, and detail stain-grade baseboards, casing, trim, paneling, and doors where raw wood grain and tight joints are visible.
- Custom Marine Outfitting: Build and install built-in beds, storage lockers, cabinetry, and hardware specific to push boat quarters.
- Door & Hardware Installation: Hang interior doors, fit locksets, latches, hinges, and heavy-duty marine hardware with precision.
- Shop & Tool Operation: Safely set up and operate table saws, chop/miter saws, routers, planers, and specialized woodworking machinery to fabricate custom components on-site or in the shop.
- Blueprint & Layout Interpretation: Read drawings and take exact field measurements, making adjustments for marine bulkheads and non-standard vessel angles.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in high-end finish carpentry, cabinetry installation, architectural millwork, or marine carpentry.
- Stain-Grade Skillset: Demonstrated ability to execute seamless joints, scribing, and fine detail work suitable for stain/clear finishes (not just paint-grade filler work).
- Tools: Must possess a complete set of personal hand tools (tape measure, chisels, speed square, hand block planes, utility knives, hammers, layout tools, punch sets, etc.).
- Tool Proficiency: Mastery of shop machinery (table saws, chop saws, jointers) and standard pneumatic/power carpentry tools.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work inside vessel interiors, navigate steps/ladders, lift up to 100 lbs, and work in active shop and shipyard environments.
