Overview Co‑Manager (CM) is responsible for leading through Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values to develop a high‑performing team that consistently delivers top‑line sales growth for the store. The CM leads the Operations Manager (OM) and is accountable for all operational aspects of a single retail store. This position provides a developmental experience for leaders demonstrating potential for growth. The CM drives store business through performance (sales, service, expense control), people (talent acquisition, training, development), and process (operating procedures, compliance). General Summary & Scope The CM must motivate employees, drive profitability, meet omni‑channel and retail shrink goals, and guide the team to become a trusted partner for the store’s marketing partners and field leaders. They lead the entire store operations while collaborating with the GM to create and follow plans that reflect the brand and store mandate. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and retail shrink. Drive profit through operational excellence and expense control. Use store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling and workforce planning. Review, analyze, and react to financial and operational reports and audit results. Leverage corporate programs, tools, and resources to achieve store goals. Perform makeup, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to drive sales and guest service. Maintain knowledge of industry trends, products, and services. Maintain accurate attendance and enforce Ulta Beauty attendance policy. People Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent. Build an engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand. Create an inclusive environment for associate growth. Support manager and associate development through training, feedback, reviews, succession planning, and individual development plans. Encourage ongoing training, including brand and category education. Model teamwork and operational excellence while providing direction and support. Execute Guest Engagement Leader program to drive performance. Process Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards. Enforce dress code and safety standards. Execute inventory lifecycle, truck shipments, cycle counts, returns, and planogram processes. Use the scheduling tool to provision staff for an exceptional guest experience. Use the task management tool to prioritize store workload and maintain compliance. Protect assets, prevent loss, and maintain inventory control, cash management, and safety. Report theft and complete inventory adjustments. Promote continuous improvement with technology and store initiatives. Communicate business trends, opportunities, and operational challenges to field leadership. Job Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience 2–3+ years of fast‑paced retail management or related experience. Financial management: top‑line sales, reporting, payroll, expense control. Retail management: inventory monitoring, operational excellence, service culture, merchandising. Leadership: attracting, developing and motivating talent, leading through change. Skills Proficient with POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices. Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong collaboration, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to change. Special Position Requirements Work a flexible full‑time schedule including evenings and weekends. Attend off‑site meetings; overnight travel may be required. Working Conditions Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift. Frequent bending, pushing, reaching, twisting, lifting up to 10 lbs.; may lift up to 40 lbs. Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
