Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Services - Per Diem 12 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Responsibilities Diagnosing and treating chronic respiratory diseases, prescribing medications, and advising patients on management of illnesses. Setting up and operating various respiratory care equipment under direct supervision of Administrative Technologist and physician. Performing diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures including oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy, hyperinflation therapy, aerosol therapy, and nebulizer treatments. Performing arterial blood gas draws and analysis. Setting up, operating, and troubleshooting respiratory equipment. Assisting physician with bedside and/or comprehensive bronchoscopy. Managing ventilator settings. Participating in interdisciplinary plan of care. Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation as part of code blue team. Maintaining a clean work area and adhering to infection control standards. Administering and monitoring nitric oxide (UH only). Participating in patient transport. Documenting patient charting and adhering to charging and billing procedures. Operating and monitoring non-invasive monitoring devices. Assessing patient response to therapy and making recommendations to physician and care team. Communicating changes in workload with Lead RCP. Performing other tasks as designated by director or manager. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care. 1 year to 24 months experience in acute care respiratory care, including arterial blood gas analysis, therapeutic modalities, chest physiotherapy, and related techniques. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Required Licenses / Certifications Respiratory Care Practitioner – RCP (CA DCA). Registered Respiratory Therapist – RRT (NBRC). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If not possessed upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration. Hourly rate: $39.00 – $66.45.
