Pharmacy Technician SupervisorThe Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy technician staff members and facilitating their growth and development. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor reports to the Pharmacy Supervisors. Work schedules are determined by the Pharmacy Directors.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited to the Following:Supervise assigned areas of the Pharmacy Department and direct support personnelProvide day-to-day support to pharmacy staff membersOversee and coordinate staff training and ongoing competency programsRoutinely work with management and others to improve pharmaceutical servicesParticipate in the hiring and onboarding of new staff membersProvide continuous feedback on performance and conduct annual performance evaluationsDevelop and implement pharmacy technician workflowsAssist in the development of pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs)Actively promote both medication safety and workplace safetyAssign special projects and additional duties to technicians as neededMaintain adequate stock of supplies/expense items needed to perform departmental functionsHandle call outs and other staffing issues to meet minimum departmental requirementsPromote cost-effective use of medications and departmental resourcesAssume role of pharmacy technician as needed during periods of low staffing/high workloadsReview pharmacy technician schedules and suggest changes to align with departmental needsAct as a liaison between pharmacists/management and pharmacy techniciansTroubleshoot equipment issues and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate partyAssure that assigned areas function within all legal, professional and regulatory standardsQualification Requirements and Professional Skills:Demonstrates basic working knowledge of hospital pharmacy practiceWorks cooperatively with staff throughout Pharmacy Department and Medical CenterWorks efficiently, independently and safely in a complex and constantly changing environmentDemonstrates effective communication skills in often difficult and critical circumstancesDemonstrates advanced problem solving and conflict resolutionActs as a role model through dedication to the highest standards of professionalismPerforms work in a highly detail-oriented mannerAppropriately prioritizes tasks and demonstrates sound decision-making skillsPromotes patient-centered and customer-focused carePerforms all job functions in an ethical and compassionate mannerApplies skills/knowledge to improve overall quality of pharmaceutical care within the organizationApplies emerging leadership skills in such a way to positively impact the departmentConsistently adheres to AMCs Code of Conduct and Employee ManualEducation, Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Requirements:Must maintain: 1) Pharmacy technician certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program 2) Pharmacy technician registration through NYSExperience: 3 years' experience in health system pharmacy practice preferred.
