Job Summary

The Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the direction of a physician in the Angio Interventional Radiology or Neuro IR services. This includes extra-cranial and intracranial angiography, vertebroplasty, spinal injections, myelograms, cisternograms, embolizations, cryoablations, coilings, and clot retrievals. The role serves various customers including medical staff, patients, and regulatory agencies, with a priority on enhancing customer service.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for interventional radiology and neurointerventional procedures, including discograms, aspirations, therapeutic injections, angiography, and ablations.
• Assist in clinical procedures, both sterile and non-sterile, for neurointerventional services related to tumor, epistaxis, and spinal lesion embolization.
• Operate advanced imaging equipment in accordance with established guidelines and imaging protocols for interventional and neurointerventional patient procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and radiation safety practices.
• Instruct and mentor students and residents, fulfilling preceptor responsibilities as necessary.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on imaging equipment.
• Maintain inventory of supplies for all interventional radiology and neurointerventional procedures.
• Utilize information systems for scheduling interventional radiology services.
• Review coding procedures to ensure accurate billing for neurointerventional and interventional radiology procedures.
• Engage in continuous learning of new techniques and technologies through attendance at lectures, seminars, and educational readings.
• Adhere to accepted clinical principles, methods, and procedures while performing or supervising interventional diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain patient and hospital confidentiality.
• Comply with hospital policies and procedures pertaining to incident reporting.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education

• Required: Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: New York State license as a Radiologic Technologist
• Required: ARRT(R) Certification
• Required: BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)

• English: Read, Write, Speak

Schedule Notes

Work hours are from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with rotating on-call duties during weekends. The position requires four 10-hour shifts.

Experience in Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional procedures is required.
