Job Description
6th Floor Med-Surg Unit This is a fast-paced post-surgical unit where most patients stay only 1-2 nights, creating a high-volume, dynamic workflow with frequent admissions and discharges. Nurses have the opportunity to care for a wide variety of surgical patients, making it an excellent environment for expanding clinical knowledge and developing a broad skill set. The unit cares for surgical, telemetry, and pediatric patients. The pediatric population consists primarily of lower-acuity cases such as fractures, dehydration requiring IV fluids, GI concerns, and minor respiratory illnesses. PALS certification is not required, and the team is willing to train nurses who are interested in gaining pediatric experience. Due to the patient flow and unit needs, this is the only Med-Surg floor that utilizes midline catheters, providing additional opportunities for skill development. The culture is energetic, supportive, and team-oriented.
