About the Position

Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour AM-PM or 12 Hour PM-AM Hours per Shift: 11.5 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience preferred in ICU or high acuity PACU License: Valid nursing license Certifications: ACLS preferred Must-Have: Previous ICU and/or high acuity PACU experience Description: PACU Registered Nurse needed for immediate start. We care for patients who have undergone various types of surgeries. The most frequent surgeries include vascular, general, thoracic, gynecology, neuro, orthopedic, kidney transplants, and Whipple procedures. Familiarity with ventricular drains is required. No ICP monitoring is conducted in PACU; patients needing ICP monitoring are transferred directly to ICU. Candidates must be comfortable with arterial lines and central lines. Knowledge of vasoactive and sedative drips, chest tubes, and tracheostomies is essential. This is a high acuity, high volume PACU setting with a controlled chaos environment, particularly during evening shifts. PACU overnight boarders regularly include ICU craniotomy patients, step-down patients, or medical-surgical patients.
