Shipfitters $45/HR + $140 Daily Per Diem Looking for experienced Shipfitters ready to put their skills to work on major shipbuilding and repair projects? What You'll Be Doing As a Shipfitter, you'll play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of structural components used in ship construction and repair. You'll work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precise fit-up, alignment, and assembly before welding operations begin. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job specification Lay out, position, fit, and assemble steel components and ship structures Prepare materials through grinding, straightening, drilling, reaming, deburring, and other fabrication techniques Set up and align parts to ensure proper fit and dimensional accuracy Perform tack welding when required to secure components Correct distortions and perform rework to maintain required tolerances Inspect completed work and verify quality standards are met Work safely and efficiently in a production shipyard environment Partner with welders, fabricators, and production teams to meet project schedules What We're Looking For Minimum 4 years of Shipfitter experience in a shipyard environment Strong blueprint and drawing interpretation skills Experience with structural fit-up, alignment, and assembly Familiarity with shipbuilding fabrication tools and equipment Ability to work to tight tolerances and quality standards Previous experience with tack welding and weld preparation Strong understanding of shipyard safety practices Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and correct fabrication issues Job Type & Location: This is a contract position based out of Pascagoula, MS. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
