Registered Nurse Floater

Location: Pahrump Schools Hours: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week, 190 days per year Salary Range: R.N $44,018- $51,052 R.N. W/ B.S.N. $52,457- $59,480

This position involves planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the health services program of assigned schools including nursing services, health and nursing education, and environmental health and safety. The nurse will consult with the District School Nurse and Director of Special Education for direction and supervision involving school or nursing policy. The role also includes creating and maintaining an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and support school and district programs and goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include complying with the code of ethics of the nursing profession, cooperating in the development and implementation of the district health program, ensuring compliance with special services such as IEPs, preparing and implementing a written health care plan for students receiving direct nursing services, performing medically ordered health care procedures, working professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community, attending IEP team meetings, maintaining accurate records, attending to the acute and chronic health care needs of students and staff, identifying health problems, performing state mandated screenings, overseeing immunization and communicable disease status, administering medications, conducting hearing and vision screenings, participating in other job-related duties, providing consultation to staff and special education personnel, acting as a liaison for special education students and staff, and working conditions.

Qualifications include an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing. Training in modifications and accommodations for students with Autism and Emotional Handicap, dealing with a variety of behaviors, visual scheduling, communications systems, working with accommodations within integrated settings, and non-violent crisis intervention may be required.
