Enhance and support parent-child relationships by implementing a home-based Early Head Start program for pregnant moms and families of infants and toddlers. Partners with community agencies. Provides individualized and comprehensive health and development services to women before, during, and after pregnancy. Partners with families to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children (birth to 36 months). Essential Functions:
- Each week conducts one home visit with the parents and children of each family, integrating information on child development, health, nutrition, mental health, and social services, promoting and supporting the families’ achievement of self- sufficiency.
- Works with families to develop weekly individualized lesson plans, utilizing household materials in educational activities.
- Collaborates with other community agencies to provide individualized services for infants and toddlers with disabilities.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates group socialization experiences to be held a minimum of twice a month in a center-based or community environment.
- Provides prenatal and parenting information to expectant parents. Provides resources and/or referrals for each family in areas such as health, nutrition, social services, and mental health.
- Documents all services and follow-up treatment, as necessary.
- Submits written reports for each home visit . and socialization.
- Completes all required record-keeping and internal and external reporting in the database.
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures in compliance with Head Start Performance, and FOCAF Standards.
- Collaborates with families, co-workers, community partners and the general public to further program goals, respond to questions, problem solve and establish effective working relationships.
- Complies with FOCAF policies regarding the reporting of abuse and neglect.
- Remains up to date with policies and practices.
- Effectively responds, communicates with and presents information to co-workers, customers, clients, vendors, and general public in a courteous and timely manner.
- Maintains both electronic and hard copy filing systems commensurate with the needs of FOCAF and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Regularly involves and encourages parents to volunteer within all components of program.
- Demonstrates commitment for professional development and continuous growth by actively seeking out and participating in training opportunities.
- Engages with supervisor and co-workers on constructive and timely feedback, accepting feedback as a growth opportunity, and is open to continuous improvement for oneself and the organization.
- Home Visitor CDA or comparable credential, or an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Social Work, Human Services or related field.
- Demonstrate competency to plan and implement home-based learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate, and to build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.
- Two years’ experience working with parents, infants and toddlers from diverse populations is preferred.
- An understanding of adult learning practices is preferred.
- Must pass a Health Physical Screen and TB test.
- Must pass an enhanced criminal background check that meets the required state, federal, and FOCAF Head Start standards.
- Must pass drug test and submit to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Complete and maintain certificates for Adult/Child/Infant CPR and First Aid.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance if there is a need to travel locally during the course of the job duties.
- Bilingual preferred.
