2nd Shift Staff Pharmacist VA (CMOP)

Job Summary
The Staff Pharmacist supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) by providing prescription verification and quality assurance services in a closed-door, mail-order pharmacy environment. Pharmacists play a key role in ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing to Veterans nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify prescription orders including legend drugs, OTC medications, controlled substances, and medical/surgical supplies
- Assess medication orders for accuracy, dosing, drug interactions, and appropriateness
- Perform final product verification prior to dispensing
- Support pre-verification of medications loaded into automated dispensing equipment
- Review and verify controlled substance prescriptions (Schedules III-V)
- Supervise and provide guidance to Pharmacy Technicians
- Conduct quality assurance checks and report discrepancies (wrong drug, dose, or labeling issues)
- Ensure compliance with VA policies, federal regulations, and pharmacy best practices
Work Environment
- Closed-door, non-retail mail order pharmacy
- Combination of automated and manual dispensing processes
- High-volume production setting serving Veterans across the U.S.
- 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
- Monday-Friday operations (overtime/holidays as needed)
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in any U.S. State/Territory/Commonwealth
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Controlled substance licensure (as required)
- Ability to obtain VA credentialing (VetPro)
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
