Teacher Assistant - Per Diem

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide extra assistance to students with special needs. Assist students individually or in small groups academically. Supervise students. Work with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts. Arrange with classroom teachers to collect student assignments. Enforce classroom values. Responsible for assisting with classroom behavior. Responsible for completing students point sheets. Assist in crisis intervention for students. Responsible for recording information behavior on ABC sheets. Complete the following reports when necessary: information, behaviorals, and incident reports. Provide communication to members of the Behavior Support team regarding any behavior requiring intervention. Responsible for monitoring the attendance of all students assigned to their class. Performs all duties as assigned.

II. QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum high school diploma or GED Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting as required by the program. A Teacher's Assistant certificate is not require but preferred. A clean and valid NYS driver’s license preferred. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities/traumatic brain injuries preferred.

III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS:

Be a team player. Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization. Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately.
