Senior Transit Architect

Overview We are seeking an Senior Transit Architect to join our growing teams in Austin, TX. Under limited supervision applies technical proficiency to solutions for architectural problems and the coordination of related project activities. The successful candidate will be able to work with all levels of staff within the firm and will take initiative to develop research and design and implement projects from start to finish. The position also supports Business Development and presentation efforts in securing and advancing new projects. Your role Develop designs and sketches to be input into Revit-based construction documents as well as direct a project team to do the same. Provide Project Managers with status reports of progress on architectural documents. Communicate regularly with the team and stay within the hours budgeted for tasks assigned. Initiate tasks independently and follow through for delivery as needed. Performs such other duties as the Supervisor determine necessary to support the Architecture Practice. About you Bachelor'S or master's degree in architecture required. Candidate must hold a Texas Architect license. LEED AP or other sustainability certification or desire to obtain within first 6 months of hire is a plus. Minimum 15-20 years of relevant work experience to include all phases of architectural drafting, detailing, and assisting with the coordination of consultants. The position requires working expertise in BIM/Revit but is not a production orientated position. Experience coordinating multi discipline work for complex architectural engineering projects. Experience directing work effort of junior staff to develop project documentation and manage project deliverables. Advanced knowledge of building systems and experience in implementation of various building systems and project types such as (aviation, rail, transit, commercial, education). Advanced knowledge of building systems and experience in Transit and also implementation of various building systems and project types such as (aviation, rail, commercial, education) is a plus. Ability to provide superior architectural team leadership, interact with senior management and play a decisive leadership role in vertical transit projects. Ability to make timely design and technical decisions in a collaborative manner while seeking advice of peers and supervisors. Ability to present oneself professionally to clients as well as maintain a 'seller-doer' approach. Ability to routinely interface with clients and keep client properly informed. Ability to perform programming, planning and other conceptual design activities. Demonstrated past ability to lead production of project documents through all stages of design and construction. Ability to mentor junior staff and lead a project team to produce a complete set of construction documents. Ability to perform QC review for design & red-line documents for production staff in BlueBeam or using another digital format. Ability to coordinate with sub-consultants and other disciplines and mentor junior staff to do the same. Ability to perform QC review and contribute needed information to a specification writer. Ability to create organized Exhibits in BlueBeam and PowerPoint for client and team review. Ability to direct & perform (if required) site observation and field work including site investigations, existing facility inventory and field measured documentation. Ability to complete assignments efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner. and self-perform quality control on work prior to publication. Ability to maintain and coordinate project BIM model and strong knowledge in construction document standards and conventions. Advanced knowledge of building codes, TAS, ADAAG, FEDERAL and STATE compliance requirements and have experience with code reviews processes. Ability to interact with regulatory agencies and achieve a consensus. Ability to consults product manufacturers, to evaluate, and obtain accurate cost information and select materials, and inspect architectural features in the field. Understanding of building materials and construction methods. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to effectively work on several projects or issues simultaneously. Ability to analyze information and propose effective solutions on own initiative. Ability to create basic and informative 3D models in BIM or another digital format.
