They assist in preparing surgical areas, managing instruments and supplies, and ensuring sterile techniques under the supervision of licensed surgical staff. This role is suitable for individuals beginning their careers in surgical services or transitioning from other clinical or patient care roles.The Surgical Tech responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Assists in maintaining the sterile field under supervision.Demonstrates an understanding of the procedure and supports surgical team needs.Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.Scrubs, gowns, and gloves appropriately.Sets up sterile tables with instruments and supplies under guidance.Performs instrument and sponge counts with the circulator.Passes instruments during surgery.Aids in cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization.Supports terminal cleaning of rooms and preparation for the next procedure.May retrieve and transport medications (no preparation or administration).
