Overhead Crane Operator

Job Title: Equipment Operator
Responsibilities

• Train on inventory locations and color codes for steel.
• Operate indoor and outdoor cranes.
• Perform general clean-up and housekeeping duties.
• Pull beams and load flatbed trailers and railcars, including rigging.
• Receive inventory and move materials using an overhead crane.
• Fill out shipping reports and bills of lading.
• Adhere to all safety rules while working around flatbed trucks and railcar systems.
• Possibly train to be a saw or brake operator, forklift operator, or steel bending machine operator.

Essential Skills

• Heavy industrial or construction experience required.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to learn and retain information based on color coding.
• Capability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Experience operating equipment safely around heavy machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Overhead crane experience in heavy industry or military preferred.
• Flexibility to train on day shift for up to two weeks.
• Ability to jump onto and off trailers safely.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
