General Maintenance Worker with Security Clearance

The Building People, LLC seeks General Maintenance Workers to perform routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep tasks at government facilities. The position includes conducting minor repairs, preventive maintenance, operating hand and power tools, maintaining equipment and grounds, keeping maintenance records, and ordering supplies and parts. Candidates must recognize when a repair requires a licensed professional and report hazardous conditions proactively. Responsibilities Address minor repairs such as leaky faucets, clogged drains, broken fixtures, and broken windows, doors, and floors. Conduct preventive maintenance checks on equipment and systems, including filter replacement and lubricating parts. Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work. Order supplies and parts as needed. Report hazardous conditions and tasks that require escalation to licensed tradespersons. Support facility equipment and ground maintenance. Qualifications Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry sufficient for minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks. Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Experience performing repairs on leaky faucets, clogged drains, broken fixtures, and related issues. Ability to repair and paint walls, windows, doors, floors, and woodwork. Experience conducting routine preventive maintenance checks on equipment and systems. Physical ability to perform manual labor including standing, walking, bending, carrying, and lifting. Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail in a facilities maintenance environment. Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance work and manage supply and parts orders. Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Level 3) security clearance. Preferred Experience Prior experience performing general maintenance in a federal government facility, commercial office building, or similar institutional setting. Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to identify when a hazardous condition or complex repair requires escalation to a licensed tradesperson or supervisor. Education High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry Certification (required). Preferred Education Vocational or technical training in plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, or a related maintenance trade. Additional safety certifications or training relevant to general facility maintenance. Additional Information Background screening and clearance may be required by the government.
