Job Summary The Position Maintenance Mechanical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and piping in the plant. Hourly pay: $34.40. Job Purpose The trade’s objectives are to install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and piping in the plant by performing daily functions. Dimensions The jobholder is responsible for accomplishing the preventive, predictive and repair maintenance tasks in the plant as directed by the maintenance staff. Context Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment; troubleshoots equipment and wiring to detect malfunctions; discusses machine operations with production and maintenance personnel to diagnose problems; dismantles defective equipment, repairs or installs parts to bring the equipment back to OEM standards; repairs and maintains physical structures of the plant; cleans and lubricates plant equipment such as bearings and chains; general knowledge around oil analysis; repairs drag chain using rigging equipment/torch; fabricates and constructs using drawings & blueprints from metal sheets and piping; troubleshoots using schematics and repairs hydraulic systems up to 2000psi; sets up and operates shop; operates welding and burning equipment as qualified; performs rigging and lifting; repairs and replaces industrial valves; troubleshoots gear boxes and drive systems, conducts laser alignment; uses CMMS; works with reliability department; replaces/troubleshoots motors and drive systems up to 1500HP; offers solutions to repetitive failures; works with contractors during shutdowns and repairs; works at heights and in confined spaces; uses mobile equipment such as JLG, single man lift, and forklifts; is a member of on‑call program. Key Result Areas Safety – Implementation of safety guidelines and procedures for the Maintenance Utility and plant personnel. Personnel – Development through training on‑the‑job and formal/informal training. Equipment – Ensure the reliability of the plant equipment through preventive / predictive and corrective maintenance. Planning – Assist in the preparation of work schedules for routine and shutdown periods. Quality – Ensure that the Maintenance Department conforms to the plant’s quality standards both in the field and in the maintenance shop. Knowledge, Skills and Experience High School Diploma and five years of related maintenance experience. Ability to comprehend detailed instructions and read/interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations. Apply consensus understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several variables and solve them. Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and PLC structure. Operate shop equipment such as drills, grinder, threader, and taps. (Preferred) Operate and utilize a lathe/mill. Complete precision maintenance (laser alignment, belt alignment). Utilize a CMMS for work order management. Follow OEM technical installation measurements (bearing clearances, alignment tolerances, etc.). Complete 1G, 2G, 3G, 1F, 2F, and 3F welding certification within 1 year. Regularly lift 50lbs and work protracted periods standing or sitting. Climb stairs and ladders frequently. Degree of Supervision Moderate supervision is expected. The jobholder must be a self‑starter capable of autonomously accomplishing maintenance tasks and working in a team environment with trades and production employees of different skill levels.
