Senior Conflicts Specialist The Senior Conflicts Specialist role operates within Firm Operations, reporting to the Conflicts Counsel. The Senior Conflicts Specialist is a leader on the Conflicts team responsible for conducting conflict checks on New Business Intake ("NBI") and Lateral Hire prospective representations while providing superior customer service to the Firm. Responsibilities Monitors JLConflicts shared email box to address urgent conflict inquiries, including after‑hours and holidays. Participates in testing and provides feedback for various firm projects. Handles Lateral Hire Conflict Clearance projects from start to finish. First line of contact for questions from NBI Specialists, Conflict Specialists, and other departments. Assists with training new conflicts staff through shadowing and as a resource. Uses Intapp Open conflicts software and online research tools to generate accurate searches, analyze results, and resolve potential conflict issues. Provides superior customer service to all staff, attorneys, firm leadership, and prospective new hires. May work occasional evening, weekend, or holiday hours to address urgent conflict checks. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Accurately identify and summarize potential conflict issues, performing research and analysis to determine existence of conflict. Work with Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Office Administrators, Firm Managing Partners, and sponsoring attorneys on Conflict Questionnaire analysis for Lateral Hires. Handle partner‑level conflict clearance for incoming partner candidates. Review new business intake requests for quality control, identifying typos, missing parties, scope of engagement, and firm policy issues. Advise NBI Specialists on party positions, new matter vs existing client account choices. Respond to inquiries from secretaries and attorneys regarding the overall NBI workflow. Set up ethical walls and send memos for conflict clearance and security management. Process subpoena inquiries, hotline call checks, media searches, RFP conflict checks, bankruptcy projects, blog and article searches, and other non‑intake conflict questions. Act as administrator in Intapp Open, becoming an expert on the intake workflow and conflict data role. Skills and Educational Requirements Sound judgment in managing assignments across multiple priorities. Self‑starter who works independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. 8+ years experience in a conflicts role at a law firm, preferably large or employment‑law oriented. Familiarity with the Model Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys and conflict resolution principles. Proficient with online research tools such as D&B/Hoovers, Orbis/BvD, LexisNexis, company websites, and 10‑K filings. Strong database skills and meticulous attention to detail. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; advanced degree preferred. Salary & Benefits For Colorado and Chicago: $89,500 – $117,250 (annual). For Los Angeles and Irvine: $97,500 – $127,500. For Seattle: $97,500 – $146,000. Salary will be based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
