Litigation Associate, Bodily Injury Defense | Tampa, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | Bodily Injury / Personal Injury Defense
"I'd like to be the one who argues it."
I hear that line a lot from defense attorneys who are ready for more. They have prepared the outline, briefed the partner and drafted the motion, and then watched someone else stand up in court. If that sounds familiar, this role in Tampa is worth ten minutes of your time.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm working with a Florida insurance defense firm that wants a bodily injury defense litigator for its Tampa office. The position is hybrid, and the firm's approach is simple: if you can handle the file, the file is yours.
Your caseload
• Premises, auto and general negligence claims with significant injury components
• Soft tissue cases through to surgical and permanent injury claims
• Independent medical examinations, records review and work with life care planners and economists
• Depositions, hearings, mediations and trials, handled by you
• Regular reporting to adjusters, with direct client contact from the start
Why the band is wide
The salary range runs from $125,000 to $200,000 for a reason. The firm is happy to hire an attorney with a few years of litigation behind them who wants more courtroom time. It is equally keen on a senior litigator who wants larger exposure files, first chair trials, a role mentoring others and a realistic look at partnership. Where you land depends on what you bring, and experienced attorneys are paid accordingly.
What the firm needs
• Florida Bar license
• 2+ years of Florida civil litigation, bodily injury or insurance defense preferred
• Confidence reading medical records and challenging causation
• An organised approach to a busy caseload
What's on offer
• $125,000 to $200,000, set by experience
• 1,900 billable hours
• Hybrid working, based in Tampa
• Supervising partners who give real feedback, not an annual review and silence
• Progression toward partnership
The honest picture
Bodily injury defense rewards people who can cut through medical noise. Juries respond to clear explanations, and adjusters respond to attorneys who give firm valuations rather than ranges padded for safety. This firm wants that kind of lawyer and is prepared to give them the room to work.
