Job Overview:

Express Employment Professionals of Ottawa & Morris is currently seeking a dependable and motivated Food Service Cook/Baker to join a professional kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position involves preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining sanitation and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review menus and prepare ingredients needed for food preparation
• Follow recipes and production sheets to prepare quality meals
• Follow kitchen opening and closing procedures
• Handle food and kitchen equipment following sanitation and safety guidelines
• Meet deadlines for tray line, cafeteria service, and catering preparation
• Properly garnish and present food items
• Report repair and maintenance needs to the Supervisor

Please note: Candidates must be willing to work in a team setting, have great communication skills (written and verbal), and must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Prior experience in a professional kitchen preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong teamwork and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• ServSafe® Certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Dependable attendance and positive attitude

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk extensively during meal preparation and service
• Ability to lift and carry trays, boxes, and supplies up to 25 pounds
• Ability to push/pull food hot boxes up to 50 pounds
