Job Title: Registered Nurse - CVICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year of CVICU experience License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CCRN preferred Must-Have: Competent in invasive line monitoring, including Swan Ganz and arterial lines. Experience with pacemakers, chest tubes, and cardiac medications. Ventilator and tracheostomy management skills. Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms. Experience working with electronic medical records. Description: This position is for a registered nurse in the CVICU. The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with a Magnet designation. The unit provides care for patients with various cardiac conditions. Common diagnoses include immediate post-operative CABG, heart valve repairs, and heart transplants. Candidates should have experience with thoracic surgeries and vascular surgeries. Patient ratios are typically 1:1, 1:2 for regular ICU patients, and up to 1:3 for mixed status. There will be robust support available within the department, including charge nurses and intensivists on-site 24/7. Technology includes electronic medical records and various monitoring equipment. Weekend rotation will be required, with holiday expectations outlined in the contract. The schedule is developed on a 6-week cycle, and proper scheduling practices must be adhered to. Scrub colors should be solid and professional, with no graphics or designs. This role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to various patient care needs.
