Parent Advisor- RMH NICU

Overview Schedule: 10 hours per week (flexible scheduling) Location: Riverside Methodist Hospital NICU Job Description Summary Provides emotional support, information, and advocacy for parents with infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Key Responsibilities Provides emotional support to parents of NICU patients and assists with family bonding at the bedside. Advocates for parents' needs and concerns within the healthcare system, facilitating communication and representing the family's perspective and best interests to providers and interdisciplinary teams. Assists and educates parents in navigating the NICU environment and adjusting to having an infant admitted to the NICU, offering needed information and support. Encourages and facilitates parental involvement in support services and program activities. Assists in the development and implementation of research and patient care protocols to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in chronic neonatal patients. Education and Experience Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Experience: Experience as a parent or primary caregiver of a NICU graduate, required. Licensure and Certifications: Not specified. Skills and Knowledge Familiarity with chronic neonatal diseases. Knowledge of family-centered care principles. Physical Requirements Occasionally: Bend/twist, blood and/or bodily fluids, cold temperatures, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, decision making, hot temperatures, lifting/carrying 0‑10 lbs, lifting/carrying 11‑20 lbs, loud noises, problem solving, working at heights, working outdoors.
