Primary Job Title Journey Project Manager Alternate / Related Job Titles Senior Project Manager Utility Project Manager Energy Project Manager Program Project Manager Location & Flexibility Oakland, CA Hybrid (typically onsite 2 days per month) Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: Approximately 11.5 months Start: As Soon As Possible Pay Rate: $80.00 - $85.00 per hour Schedule / Shift: Monday-Friday | Core business hours Work Arrangement: Hybrid; preference for Bay Area candidates, open to candidates within California Job Summary The Journey Project Manager is a fully qualified, career‑oriented senior‑level role responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of high‑visibility, multi‑year projects. This position supports a recently launched Innovation Accelerator focused on solving complex challenges related to energy efficiency, grid modernization, electrification, and customer experience. Reporting under general direction, the Project Manager exercises independent judgment and serves as the single point of contact for assigned projects. The role requires advanced project management expertise, strong communication skills, and experience within the energy or utility sector. The Project Manager will support the Alpha project, developing an advanced energy load management device through 2026. Key Responsibilities Apply and adapt journey‑level project management techniques to complex and evolving initiatives Lead projects that may be loosely defined and require creative or innovative approaches Develop and obtain commitment on detailed work plans, including schedule, cost, resources, contingency, and communications Obtain management approvals and ensure complete and accurate project documentation Identify, analyze, and resolve project performance issues Manage vendor integration, deliverables, and third‑party relationships Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to all stakeholders Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency and mitigation plans Capture and communicate lessons learned and best practices Ensure project objectives are achievable and aligned with business strategy Negotiate third‑party contracts in support of internal departments when required Perform budget tracking, reporting, and compliance activities Manage project reporting tools such as PlanisWare and EPIC PMO Oversee timelines, critical path activities, and milestone delivery Facilitate meetings including daily, weekly, and monthly operating reviews Lead 1‑3‑10 planning, tactical implementation plans, and workstream management Interface effectively across multiple supporting organizations Required Skills & Qualifications Top Skill Sets: Advanced project management expertise Strong written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of the energy and utility sector Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 8 years of project management experience (9 years if outside hire) Experience in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction Strong risk management, budgeting, and stakeholder management skills Superior ability to collaborate across cross‑functional and external teams Preferred Qualifications Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Experience with electric utilities or similar organizations Familiarity with utility industry regulatory and operational environments Additional Information Client laptop will be provided In case of major delays, a loaner laptop may be provided, or candidate may temporarily use a personal device via Citrix/VDI Benefits Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans. 401k Retirement Fund.
