Registered Nurse RN Medical Surgical Progressive Care PCU

Position Overview Primary City/State: Tucson, Arizona. Department Name: PCU T4 3E-Hosp. Work Shift: Day. Job Category: Nursing. Unit and Patient Population PCU unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with multiple comorbidities. Collaborate with services such as Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, and Hospitalists. Provide comprehensive wound care including wound vacs, heparin drips, blood transfusions, NG tubes, Dobhoff tubes, and PEG tubes. Work Schedule and Compensation Full‑time: 36 hours per week (3 12‑hour shifts). Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM. Available for holidays and weekends. Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and 18% night shift differential, where applicable. Core Functions Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physician(s). Formulate and initiate individualized plan of care, including discharge plan; set realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patient/family and multidisciplinary team. Implement plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities; provide nursing supervision to licensed nurses and other personnel. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan of care as needed; evaluate progress toward goals. Document assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient record; maintain legible, timely documentation per policy. Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research and leadership activities; mentor staff and preceptors. Contribute to societal health outcomes through quality improvement initiatives and professional organizations. Supervise staff and workflow where required; interact with all levels of staff, patients, families, and external contacts, including clergy for spiritual support. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license (or temporary/interim/compact license) in state of practice. BLS certification mandatory. Recent acute‑care experience preferred; at least one year in an acute‑care hospital within past 12 months for registry/travel positions. Maintain clinical performance competencies and required fingerprint clearance cards as applicable. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred.
