Credit and Collections Specialist

Payrate: $42.29–$44.50/hr Location: Durham, NC 27703 (Onsite) Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week , standard business hours Job Type: Contract (W2) — Temp-to-hire potential Openings: 1 Compensation & Benefits Pay Rate: $42.29–$44.50/hr (W2) Benefits available to full-time employees after 90 days 401(k) with company match available to eligible employees (per policy/tenure) Position Summary We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Credit & Collections Specialist to support accounts receivable and collections efforts onsite in Durham, NC. This is a contract role with potential to convert based on attendance, performance, and business needs. Key Responsibilities Manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices Drive collections (reminders, outbound calls, payment plan negotiation) Communicate with customers on account status , discrepancies, and resolutions Resolve invoice disputes and payment issues with internal teams/customers Evaluate credit risk and support credit decision-making Prepare AR aging/collections/credit risk reports for leadership Maintain accurate documentation of credit & collection activities Ensure compliance with internal policies and identify process improvements Requirements 5+ years in Credit & Collections / Accounts Receivable (or similar) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field Experience with Great Plains (accounting software) Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Excellent written/verbal communication + customer service mindset High attention to detail, strong organization, ability to manage deadlines Able to work independently in a target-driven environment Attendance is mandatory for the first 90 days Preferred Qualifications High-volume AR / corporate collections background Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP preferred) Fortune 500 / large corporate environment experience
