• Follow project instructions from construction manager or supervisor

• Move materials from one place to another

• Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment

• Wear headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing

• Complete all assigned tasks in a quickly and safely

• Assist in building scaffolding and temporary structures

• Dig, move dirt, or compact space

• Provide assistance to contractors (i.e. craft workers, electricians, painters) as needed

• Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials

• Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly

• Day Shift, 5:45 am to 3:00 pm

• Monday - Friday

Position Summary:

The Chick Side Production Worker handles newly hatched chicks during post-hatch processing, including chick pulling, sorting, vaccinating, boxing, and loading for farm transport. This high-tempo role places strong emphasis on mandatory PPE wear, aggressive sanitation and equipment maintenance after processing shifts, and continuous lifting of heavy chick crates (3550+ lbs).

Key Responsibilities:

• MANDATORY PPE COMPLIANCE & SAFETY:

  • Wear all required PPE without exception , including safety glasses, non-slip waterproof footwear, hearing protection, mask/respirator (dust/fluff protection), and chemical-resistant aprons/gloves during washdown operations.

  • Adhere strictly to biosecurity protocols to protect chick health and maintain a clean, bio-secure working environment.

• CLEANING, SANITATION & EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE:

  • Perform deep-cleaning and high-pressure washdown of hatcher cabinets, hatcher baskets, tray washers, chick processing belts, vaccination machinery, and floor drains following every hatch pull.

  • Sanitize processing equipment, vaccination lines, and transport trucks using industrial disinfectants and foaming applicators.

  • Conduct basic operational checks and routine maintenance on automated counter/sorter belts, tray washers, and spray vaccinators; clear jams and report repair needs immediately.

• CHICK PROCESSING & HEAVY LIFTING:

  • Frequently lift, maneuver, stack, and load chick boxes, hatcher baskets, and transport crates weighing 35 lbs up to 50+ lbs.

  • "Pull"(separate) newly hatched chicks from hatcher baskets efficiently and gently.

  • Sort, grade, count, and vaccinate chicks using automated or manual methods, ensuring non-viable chicks are culled per animal welfare guidelines.

  • Stack filled chick boxes onto pallets or trucks for immediate dispatch to grow-out farms.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• LIFTING REQUIREMENT: Must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, and transport 35 lbs to 50+ lbs repetitively.

• Continuous standing, bending, twisting, reaching, and fast-paced manual labor on concrete floors.

• Exposure to noisy environments, chick down/fluff, wet/washdown conditions, and sanitizing chemicals.

• Hatchery Maintenance and Production - Chick Side experience preferred

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

• Able to pass a background check

• Able to work in the US

• State licensure to work with hazardous materials preferred but not required; union certification preferred but not required

• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds

• Must be comfortable climbing up tall ladders, working at elevated levels

• Positive attitude and work ethic

• Able to work independently or as an active member of a team

• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management

• English and Spanish fluency a plus

• Able to pass a backgroundcheck

• Able to work in the US
