In this vital role, you’ll serve as the primary source for technical assistance related to substance use prevention for community coalitions, facilitating the development of coalitions capable of making impactful changes in substance use patterns within their communities. As a Prevention Specialist, you’ll act as the point of contact for community-based coalitions, offering technical assistance and resources that enhance their capacity to prevent substance use. Your collaboration and effective communication will ensure that requests for prevention services are met, contributing to the overall wellbeing and resilience of our communities. Provide information to coalitions about substance use prevention programs and resources. Offer technical assistance and training resources to enhance the coalitions’ ability to prevent substance use. Respond to requests for prevention services and information throughout the counties within the geographic area. Assist with the creation of a yearly community needs assessment for the contract award area and coalition needs assessments. Contribute to the development and updating of the draft and final Strategic Work Plan. Assist with planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Strategic Work Plan strategies. Participate in the Statewide Prevention Training and Resource Network. Prepare and submit monthly progress and billing reports to the C2000 Prevention Coordinator. Participate in the development of Quality Improvement Indicators and quarterly reports. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and at least one (1) year of professional experience in a social service agency; OR Graduate from an accredited college with an Associate’s Degree in a relevant field and at least two (2) years of professional experience in a social service agency. For 75% FTE staff: Obtain the Missouri Substance Abuse Prevention Associate (MSAPA) credential within six (6) months of hire and attend the Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training (SAPST) within nine (9) months of hire.
