Job Purpose This 8‑week assignment acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions; and maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and department strategic goals. Responsibilities Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes. Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale in the nursing profession. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and customizing communication style. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Work Experience: Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Required: 1 year of experience as a registered nurse. Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Preferred: certification in Clinical Specialty Area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally; Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications; Ability to demonstrate good judgment; Strong interpersonal skills. Physical and Environmental Demands The physical demands include occasional lifting 50–100 pounds, frequently 25–50 pounds, and constantly 10–20 pounds to move objects. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area and has an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
