The incumbent will be responsible for performing building maintenance and repair activities to include carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing work; maintaining records and files; and preparing reports. Position duties include:
• Performs carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repair and maintenance work.
• Repairs lights, switches, receptacles, etc.; replaces ballasts and fuses; performs other minor electrical repairs.
• Maintains outside water fixtures.
• Conducts inspections on fire extinguishers.
• Installs new locks and repairs existing locks.
• Repairs plumbing facilities and fixtures; checks for leaks and makes appropriate repairs.
• Sets up rooms and facilities; moves furniture; repairs furniture.
• Unloads supply trucks.
• Works with contractors, as needed.
• Prepares reports; maintains records and files.
• Takes mail to the post office, and picks it up as needed.
• Serves as back-up to the Inventory Technician as needed.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of maintenance, repair and manual tasks of the area assigned; general knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools required in the work, of the safe use, operation and preventive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment required in the work, and in the use of standard office equipment; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, to follow instructions; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with moderate experience in industrial maintenance. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license upon hire. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
