School Nutrition AssistantReports To: Cafeteria ManagerPrimary Duties:Performs a variety of routine kitchen tasks essential to the efficient operation of the School Nutrition Program. Responsibilities include the preparation, serving and storage of food; cleaning and maintaining food service areas; cashiering; operation of commercial foodservice equipment. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the SN Manager and is reviewed on an ongoing basis.Qualifications:Have a High School diploma or GED equivalencyFood service experience preferredBe able to communicate well with adults and childrenTraining:Annual training will include: HACCP, Food production, Civil Rights, Sanitation, Food Safety, Cash Handling, Point of Sale, Free and Reduced School Meals, Offer vs. Serve, Blood Borne Pathogens and Ethics. Additional training as required by CN Director.Essential Duties:Follows policies and procedures of Bladen CountyKnowledge of cash management, inventory, food preparation and standards of sanitation and safety.Assists in quality food production andPossesses excellent customer servicePromotes and maintains high standards of sanitation of safety and demonstrates acceptable personal groomingAssists to ensure that food, supplies and equipment are adequate to operate an effective cafeteria.Assistant maintaining up to date productions records, including completing paper and electronic records as program requires.Possesses a willingness to learn and implement new techniques andKnowledge of current developments in school food service and shares information with other school nutritionKnowledgeable of nutrition education information and shares this information with other school personnel andHelps establish a pleasant and positive image in the cafeteria. Serves food graciously and practices good communicationsEmployee is expected to possess interpersonal relationship skills necessary to maintain a harmonious workPerforms all other duties as assigned by the School NutritionPhysical Demands:Work is considered moderate to heavy physical work requiring lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to withstand heat and standing for long periods of time.
