Sales/Business Development Manager (CNC/Machining/Machine Shop Exp)Industry: Contract Manufacturing/CNC/Precision Machining and ManufacturingJob Type: Direct Hire/PermLocation: Bay Area Peninsula ( San Mateo area) - Work is onsite and will involve some travel/customer face-timeWe are seeking a hands-on engineering professional who can bridge customer needs with our manufacturing capabilities. This role plays a central part in shaping new business opportunities by managing the full quoting cycle and supporting early-stage product introduction. The ideal candidate thrives in both customer-facing environments and on the shop floor, learning processes in detail to deliver accurate, competitive proposals.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the full RFQ process, coordinating with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure technical feasibility and accurate cost estimates.Review customer drawings, CAD files, and specifications to develop precise quotes for machined, "fine blank" stamped, and other precision-fabricated components.Evaluate material costs, outside services, and labor requirements to produce competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.Serve as the primary internal contact for customer inquiries, ensuring timely communication and professional handling of all requests.Support and collaborate with external sales representatives by providing project updates, technical information, and quoting status.Manage front-end NPI activities, including onboarding new customers and ensuring all requirements are met before production launch.Maintain accurate sales and quoting data within the ERP system and track win/loss trends to refine pricing strategies.Travel as needed to meet with customers, understand application requirements, and strengthen long-term relationships.Experience and Education RequirementsThis is a KEY, and SENIOR role and the ideally qualified pro will bring at least 5 OR MORE years of experience in quoting, estimating, or sales operations within a machining, metalworking, or manufacturing environment.DIRECT EXPERIENCE in machine shop environments and even mechanical manufacturing with some exposure to electronics, including estimation/quoting would be IDEAL. Background in mechanical or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience with discrete part manufacturing processes.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings; familiarity with GD and T strongly preferred.Experience working with CNC machining, fineblanking, grinding, EDM, or similar precision manufacturing technologies.CUSTOMER FACING EXPERIENCE - This leader needs to be prepared to get in front of customers and be ready to prepare quotes, work with various customer inquiries, manage front end NPI activity for new products and customers.Must have both a comfort with, and strong communication skills with a history of supporting key customer accounts; aerospace or medical industry exposure is a plus.Willingness to work on-site and travel as required to support customer engagement and business development.Proficiency with MS Excel and experience using manufacturing ERP systems for quoting and order entry.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced job shop environment.There is a lot there in the WISHLIST, but if you are both interested and feeling like it's a good fit for you, please apply to this post, AND email me directly at View email address on click.appcast.io and we can set up a time to discuss and determine if this might be a fit!
