About the Role

ShareSTAFF is hiring a Physician for a W-2 contract assignment at a Nebraska state correctional facility in McCook, NE. As a contract physician, you will provide primary care medical services to an adult resident population in a minimum-custody correctional setting, including examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and supervision of medical care provided by other clinical staff. You may also recommend admission and release of acutely ill patients, perform minor procedures within your scope, read and interpret diagnostic studies, consult with specialty providers, and direct medical services within the facility. The role offers a 52-week-plus assignment (12+ months) with flexible part-time or full-time scheduling and paid orientation training provided during onboarding at the Nebraska Corrections Training Academy.

What You'll Do

• Perform examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adult residents in a correctional primary care setting
• Recommend admission and release of acutely ill patients and coordinate transfers to higher levels of care as needed
• Perform routine medical services including examination, care, and treatment of patients within scope
• Read and interpret diagnostic studies including laboratory results and imaging
• Supervise and provide clinical direction to mid-level providers, nursing staff, and allied health personnel within the facility
• Work closely with consultant staff to strengthen medical services and support the instruction of professional and sub-professional staff
• Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and clinical decisions in accordance with facility policies and state requirements
• Participate in facility committees and quality improvement activities as assigned
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide direction during urgent clinical situations
• Perform related work as required within the scope of your medical license

What You Bring - Required

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
• Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Nebraska, or eligibility for Nebraska licensure prior to assignment start
• Three (3) years of residency training in a recognized medical specialty in an approved hospital
• Eligibility for, or possession of, certification in one of the medical specialty fields
• Willingness to complete pre-placement and onboarding requirements, including the Nebraska Corrections Training Program at the Staff Training Academy

What You Bring - Preferred

• Board certification in a primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine) or other relevant specialty
• Prior experience in a correctional, institutional, or public health practice setting
• Experience supervising mid-level providers, nursing staff, and clinical teams
• Experience with electronic health record systems used in state correctional or institutional settings
• Comfort working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with behavioral health and substance use needs
