About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days/Nights, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS BLS NRP Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: LDRP experience Couplet care Circulate in the operating room Ability to titrate drips Fetal monitoring experience Description: This position requires the nurse to float between Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Mother and Baby, and assist other units as needed. The unit typically has 12 LDRP rooms and one OR suite for C-sections. On average, the unit sees approximately 1.5 births per day, totaling around 50-60 births per month. Nurses are required to follow established guidelines for patient-to-nurse ratios. Charge nurses typically have patient assignments. Surgical techs are available on the unit. In-house OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia services are not available 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is not utilized. Nurses are responsible for reading their own fetal monitoring strips. The electronic fetal monitoring system in use is GE and OBIX. Self-scheduling is not permitted; shifts will be filled based on current needs with consideration for preferences. Nurses will be required to provide call coverage as per policy. The dress code consists of professional colors. The charting system utilized is EPIC. The unit operates within a Level 3 trauma setting. This is an acute care position.
