Senior Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist

PROMAN Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist to join our clients public accounting team- located in Festus, MO. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who can manage complex bookkeeping and payroll functions with minimal training and oversight. We are not looking to develop an entry‑level candidate for this role. Instead, we prefer someone with proven experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to confidently process large volumes of financial data accurately and efficiently. Experience with income tax preparation is a plus but not required.

The successful candidate will meet one or more of the following:

• Multiple years of bookkeeping and payroll experience in public accounting, with demonstrated growth or advancement
• Strong accounting or math aptitude with exceptional attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage large amounts of financial information accurately
• Comfortable working independently and making sound judgment calls

This position is best suited for someone who can hit the ground running and add immediate value.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced bookkeeping and payroll processing for multiple clients
• Accurately manage payroll cycles, reporting, and reconciliations
• Handle bookkeeping records, balances, and financial documentation
• Maintain a high level of accuracy while meeting deadlines
• Communicate professionally with internal staff and clients as needed
• Assist with income tax preparation if qualified and interested

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Location Requirement
• In‑office - Festus, MO
• Temporary work‑from‑home allowed only for limited, justifiable circumstances (e.g., snow days, sick children, temporary daycare closures), possibly combined with PTO
• Tax Season (January 1 – April 15)
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 10–40 hours of overtime possible January–February
• Overtime hours may be worked before/after normal hours or on weekends
• Occasional rotating Saturday mornings may be required
• Off‑Season (April 16 – December 31)
• Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Employees are expected to work 40 hours per week, typically by working slightly longer days Monday–Thursday
