Financial Analyst

Position Summary The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center invites experienced professionals who bring strong analytical capabilities, clear and confident communication skills, and passion to harness accurate, reliable data to support finance and clinical decision-making to join our Business Performance & Insights of the Fiscal Service Department as a Financial Analyst. In this role, you will play a key part in developing financial reports, conducting data‑driven analyses, and generating insights that guide strategic financial planning and operational decision‑making. Your analytical expertise and clear communication will help translate complex financial data into actionable intelligence—supporting our commitment to delivering compassionate, high‑quality cancer care while maintaining financial sustainability. Responsibilities Key contributor for monthly financial preparation and reporting, annual budgeting and forecasting; provide analytical support by evaluating financial results and variances and identifying trends. Develop, interpret, analyze, and present financial and operational data and make recommendations at a level understood by intended audiences such as executive leadership, financial and clinical directors, and colleagues. Develop business pro forma income statements for leadership’s decision making for new lines of clinical service; assist in the profitability and performance review of strategic business units and cost centers. Work in a team environment, be flexible and adaptable to changes in assignments and the work environment, work independently, manage time efficiently and multi‑task effectively. Work in close partnership with the Data Manager to ensure alignment between data governance and financial reporting requiring strong cross‑functional communication and shared commitment to data integrity and continuous improvement. Support the Fiscal department in the process improvement and development of tools to perform accounting related functions; serve as a resource and educator for other fiscal staff. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Preferred: Experience with healthcare financial data, including cost reporting, payer mix, service line profitability, and volume‑based analysis. Preferred: Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Planning is a strong advantage. Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables, advanced formulas, Power Query).
