ROLE

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including material and labor. The Electrical Estimator will prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. This individual analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation in the preparation of accurate, profitable electrical estimates for projects, products, or services. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or plans and specs projects of any size and complexity.
• Prepare materials, labor and equipment cost estimates according to proposals, plans and specifications independently without supervision.
• Review data to determine material and labor requirements & prepare itemized lists.
• Perform high volume of project change order estimates.
• Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as: planning, organizing, scheduling preparing bids; proposals, selecting vendors, subcontractors, and cost effectiveness.
• Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
• Consults with clients, vendors, and other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and sub-trades. Duties include negotiating with these groups to obtain competitive and profitable pricing.
• Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
• Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
• Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
• Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
• Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
• Other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

• Experience with Accubid preferred.
• Experience with Accubid LiveCount or similar on screen take off tools.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Requires a high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• (5) Years estimating experience in the electrical contracting industry with practical knowledge of field requirements and installations preferred.
• (01) license with a minimum of five years’ experience in the field preferred.
• Completion of estimating program in post-secondary education environment.
• Prior experience with Accubid.
