About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 to 26 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Tele License: Current state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of EPIC experience required. Experience in medical-surgical/telemetry nursing required. Description: Floating to other units is required as needed. This is a medical-surgical unit with a patient population that is generally elderly. Patients present with a variety of conditions, including respiratory diseases, infections, dementia, and neurological issues. The unit maintains a healthy work environment and promotes good teamwork. A charge RN is present on every shift to facilitate workflow and oversee operations. All candidates must have competencies in medical-surgical/telemetry nursing in order to float if necessary. Travelers will need to pass an EKG exam. Staffing ratios are 1:5 to 6. Daily census is approximately 20 patients. The unit accommodates adults and geriatric patients. Interdisciplinary support is available, including therapy and social services. Blood product administration and central line care are part of the responsibilities. The nurse should be familiar with managing dysrhythmias and using rapid response teams. Wound care and management of feeding tubes may also be required. Candidates will need to demonstrate competencies in starting and maintaining IVs. Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment protocols are essential. Travelers must be prepared to float to other units as operational needs arise.
