Water Distribution Supervisor As the next Water Distribution Supervisor for the City of Twin Falls, you will play an important leadership role in supporting the reliable operation, maintenance, and improvement of the City’s water distribution system. This position is ideal for someone with strong water department experience, leadership ability, technical knowledge, and a commitment to providing safe, dependable water service to the community. In this important role, you will supervise employees within the Water Department’s distribution division and help oversee service requests, utility locating, data collection, metering, system maintenance and repair, water sampling, hydrant and valve maintenance, and related water service activities. You will work closely with the Water Superintendent, City staff, customers, contractors, and other departments to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with City standards. Description As the Water Distribution Supervisor, you will: Supervise, direct, plan, assign, schedule, motivate, and evaluate the work of water distribution personnel Organize crews, prioritize jobs, coordinate work schedules, and support daily water distribution operations Coordinate with underground utilities, other City departments, contractors, and the public Review work attendance records, timecards, service logs, and related operational records Oversee service requests, locating, metering, data collection, system maintenance, repairs, water sampling, hydrant maintenance, and valve maintenance activities Help ensure sufficient inventory levels for the department and coordinate with suppliers when needed Answer phone calls, respond to complaints, and provide courteous service to water customers Assist with the preparation of the annual budget Support hiring processes for Water Distribution personnel Review and adjust piping and metering plans for the distribution system Train and provide work demonstrations to new employees or employees in similar positions Keep supervisors informed of work progress, concerns, and recommendations for improvement Support cross-functional collaboration with other Public Works departments Use systems such as Cityworks, meter data programs, and other technology to support operational efficiency Perform all duties in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices Temporarily assume responsibilities of the Water Superintendent when assigned or needed Perform related duties as required Pay & Benefits $30.41 – $36.48 per hour ($63,252 – $75,878 annually), depending on the experience Full-time, non-exempt position, pay grade 11 Robust retirement plan with strong employer contributions Paid medical and vacation leave, plus paid holidays Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage City-paid life and disability insurance Wellness programs, additional savings, and retirement benefits Free or discounted access to City recreation amenities, including the pool, golf course, and library Work Environment This position works primarily in an indoor environment with occasional outdoor work involving water distribution operations, construction sites, utility locations, maintenance activities, and emergency response. Work may involve exposure to adverse weather conditions, construction-related hazards, heavy equipment, rough terrain, and time-sensitive operational needs. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, inspect water utility distribution and construction projects, review written materials, operate vehicles and equipment, use computerized systems, and maintain sufficient mobility to inspect field projects and respond to operational needs. What We’re Looking For Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and support employees Knowledge of water distribution operations, underground utilities, and potable water regulations Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work independently and with a team Strong understanding of Idaho Safe Drinking Water Regulations, DEQ standards, and EPA water quality standards Ability to read maps, locate water lines, and review distribution system piping plans Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, customers, contractors, elected officials, and the public Ability to respond to citizen questions, requests, and concerns in a courteous and timely manner Sound judgment and the ability to make reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures Ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines with accuracy and professionalism Basic computer skills and the ability to use standard or customized software applications Knowledge of conflict resolution, stress management, budget preparation, and equipment used by the Water Department Commitment to safety, teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Minimum of five years of Water Department experience, including two years of management experience Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work Class IV Idaho Water Distribution License or ability to obtain within 6 months Valid State of Idaho Driver’s License Ability to maintain City residency requirements for emergency response Ability to successfully pass required pre-employment screening #J-18808-Ljbffr
