Lead Medical Assistant Full Time Technical Fernandina Beach, FL, US 14 days ago Requisition ID: 1072 Salary Range: $18.67 To $21.03 Hourly Summary/Objectives: The Lead Medical Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative functions within the medical practice. The position combines hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities, including oversight of medical assistants, coordination of front office and volunteer operations, and support of clinical workflows. The Lead Medical Assistant serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and staff to ensure high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care. Essential Functions: Clinical / Medical Duties: 1. Prepares patients for examination by taking vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints. 2. Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments. 3. Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider. 4. Perform EKG’s, phlebotomy, wound care, and other clinical tasks as trained and permitted. 5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record. 6. Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly equipped. 7. Monitor and manage clinical inventory and order medical supplies. 8. Follow infection control and safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations. Administrative & Front Office Duties: 1. Greet and check in patients, verify insurance, and collect co-pays. 2. Schedule appointments, manage provider calendars, and handle patient reminders. 3. Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately. 4. Process referrals and medical record requests. 5. Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA. 6. Supports Diabetic Education processes. Leadership & Coordination: 1. Supervise and mentor medical assistant staff, including training and performance feedback. 2. Coordinate daily clinical operations and staff/volunteer assignments. 3. Serve as a point of contact for clinical and administrative issues. 4. Collaborate with providers and management to improve workflows and patient satisfaction. 5. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings. 6. Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards. Competency (knowledge, skills, abilities): 1. Strong clinical and administrative knowledge. 2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 3. Proficiency in Electronic Health Record systems and Microsoft Office Suite. 4. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and lead a team effectively. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises Medical Assistants, front office employees, and volunteers assigned to the medical department. This job operates in a professional work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are flexible and are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel: Minimal travel of up to 10% may be required. Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Assistant, with at least one year in a leadership or supervisory role. Preferred Education and Experience: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
