Overview Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse Manager to lead our high‑acuity cardiovascular ICU within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of experienced critical care nurses providing complex, evidence‑based care to patients with advanced cardiac and vascular conditions in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment. Responsibilities The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the cardiovascular intensive care unit, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and resource utilization. You will provide direct supervision and support to bedside nurses, monitor clinical practice to ensure adherence to current standards of cardiovascular critical care, and serve as a clinical resource for complex patient situations involving hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, advanced cardiovascular medications, and post‑operative care for cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology patients. A key aspect of this role is fostering a collaborative, team‑based culture consistent with Mission Health’s values of teamwork, respect, and professional growth. You will recruit, orient, and mentor nursing staff, support ongoing professional development, and provide constructive coaching and performance evaluations. You will partner closely with educators and clinical nurse specialists to identify learning needs, coordinate training in areas such as cardiovascular assessment, arrhythmia interpretation, ACLS protocols, and use of specialized equipment, and encourage certification and advanced education among team members. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse Manager will lead and participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives focused on outcomes such as infection prevention, reduction of complications, length of stay optimization, and patient experience. You will analyze unit metrics, develop and implement improvement plans, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and accreditation requirements related to cardiovascular and critical care services. In collaboration with senior leadership, you will contribute to budget planning, manage supplies and capital equipment relevant to cardiovascular intensive care, and help shape strategic initiatives that enhance service excellence. This position is an on‑site leadership role within the cardiovascular intensive care unit and requires visibility on the unit, regular rounding with staff and patients, and active participation in interdisciplinary meetings and care conferences. While primarily focused on management and coordination, you may occasionally provide direct clinical care during peak census or emergent situations, modeling best practices in patient assessment, communication, and family‑centered care.
